The Michael Nivison Public Library

The Michael Nivison Public library serves the cultural, social, and educational needs of our diverse community. The library provides public access to enrichment, recreational, and informational resources.

Years ago, former Village Manager, Michael Nivison, worked diligently to restore the “old red schoolhouse”, which now houses a bustling community center. Within the center, you will find various artistic and cultural happenings, and of course, the library.

The library is a cozy place to meet up with friends, old and new. There’s an eclectic collection of fiction, non-fiction, DVD’s, and books on CD, a wonderful children’s space, and a brand-new computer lab.

We welcome you to the library, and invite you to visit our complete website here!

High Valley Weaving and Spinning School

High Canyon Weavers & Spinners Guild was organized to promote and support weaving and spinning in southern New Mexico.  It soon became clear that there was a need for instruction for new fiber enthusiasts and experienced weavers and spinners.  The Weaving School Began.  Joan Nussbaum started teaching classes at the Tunnel Gallery; but has now found a wonderful new home in Cloudcroft at the Library & Community center.

Instruction, Workshops and demonstrations of weaving and spinning are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Weavers Guild meets on the second Monday of each month and the Spinners meet often.  Guild members display their work that is for sale.  Looms, Spinning Wheels, Fiber and Yarn are also for sale.

All fiber artists are welcome anytime

The Cloudcroft Art Society

The Cloudcroft Art Society (CAS) is a 501c3 organization based in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.  We support art programs and classes in the area school districts. We spearheaded the artistic painting of 20-30 of Cloudcroft’s public dumpsters.  We arrange art shows and exhibits for our members, who are fine artists in all 2D media and a variety of 3D media. CAS runs a cooperative Gallery June through December for juried members, open to the public on Saturdays, located in the same building as the Cloudcroft Library. We also schedule regular educational art programs and demonstrations for members and area artists during our monthly meetings. Some of us live full-time in the Sacramento Mountains near Cloudcroft, but many also reside nearby in Alamogordo and La Luz, NM, as well as farther away, such as Las Cruces, El Paso, many Texas cities, and the Tucson, AZ area.  Many of the latter folks are part-time residents in the Sacramento Mountains.

Thank you for your consideration and interest!  Buy local original art. We look forward to meeting you!
